And am wondering "if God is an unquestionable God why then does He give us an IV to ask Him questions?" Also ephesian 4:8-10 says when christ went to heaven He took MANY captives(from hell) with him(paraphrased) am wondering, were these captives does that were formally under the law before Christ's death and resurrection??!...oya eyin guys me e joo e soro oo

I was a victim of that kind of prayer too, some years ago. We spend time asking for what has already been freely given unto us - one of which is HIS Presence wherever we go, gather or meet. Well, it takes revelation and understanding before anyone can start a christain service without asking for HIS Presence as if HE will just send down HIS Holy Spirit from Heaven or wherever HE is to the meeting. God help us all. I believe that misunderstanding should be corrected.
Also, there is another one I will like to add. I say this with care because some christians may take it up. It is the statement common in some prayers shortly after giving thanks - "Lord, we are all sinners, forgive us our sins", they may even add, "For all have sinned and ccome short the glory of God and if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves." Some even start mentioning each sin one after the other sequel to the prayer of "Lord forgive us our sins in the dark, in the open, with our mind, our eyes, etc". The common Yoruba version is "Elese ni gbogbo wa, Baba dariji wa."
I was once a victim of these prayer some years back but thank God for more enlightenment and understanding. These prayers are effects of half-revealed Truths. Sin is not an act, sin is a nature. And the nature was dealt with at the Cross. Sometimes, they add "all our righteousness are as filthy rags, father forgive us our sins". Yes, our righteousness is as filthy rags but we dont live according to our righteousness, we have God's righteousness and God's righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ by faith is not filthy rags.
They may also add that "Forgive us our sins that will prevent us from receiving God's blessings in today's service". While they forget that it is God's goodness that leads us to repentance - Rom 2:4, not the vice versa. Moreso, it isnt sin that prevents a christian from God's blessing, it is lack of Faith. And, it is only the law (knowledge of sin) that deactivates faith - Rom 4:14.
Some also say we start confessing sins one after the other for a sinner to receive salvation, whereas all Rom 10:9 says is that we confess "Jesus", not our sins, with our mouth and believe with our hearts... unto salvation.
I dunno why I am commenting on sin-related issues but I believe if christians understand that the problem of sin has been eliminated, then, they would enjoy their christian walk and prayers much better.
The blood of rams could cover sins for a whole year and God would overlook the ssins on Israel for a whole year. How much more the Blood of Jesus Christ, the Holy Divine; God in man. It is a ridicule and underestimation of Christ's blood to think that it is only effective for past sins, or you receive forgiveness after every confession of each act of sin after Scriture has said His sacrifice was "once for all" - Heb 10:10
May God help Christi ...

Another misunderstanding/misconception I see is saying prayers like 'Father, forgive us for d sins we knowingly committed and d ones we unknowingly committed' Pls help me o,What r d sins we unknowingly committed o? Can we throw more light on this please. I believe in confessing my sins, repenting and also asking God for forgiveness but what do people mean by sins we unknowingly committed?
NB: I am willing to learn....I could be wrong ...

"Baba wa ati Olorun wa, adupe a yin o logo.....Oluwa dari gbogbo aisedede wa jin wa; ese ikoko, ese gbangba, eyi t'a monmo daa ati eyi ti a ko mo'gba ti a daa."
[Literal Translation: Our Father &Our Lord,we thank &gv u glory....Lord,forgv us all our sins;the hidden ones &the open ones, the ones we deliberately committed&the ones ignorantly committed].
You know what, I grew up hearing my dad &my mum pray that way during family devotion, so it naturally stuck like glue &I followed suit until I grew &had a better understanding of the Word. Lol
As per the "fire! after amen" thing, I am PLAYFULLY guilty of that (my frnds&i joke wt it) not because I don't know it makes no difference to the effectiveness of a prayer (God is not deaf now,he doesn't need my "fire" to mk him hear&answer my prayer faster) but because it reminds me of a very funny analogy made by a pastor (who is also not properly grounded in the Word of God) when he explained why we need to attach "Fire!" to our "Amens". He said "View your prayers like a rocket that needs the fire @it's tail end to propel it higher into the sky", He also said we need to attach fire so that no devil or "Prince of Persia" will be able to delay our prayers like that of Daniel. Lol
You know the fire we have used to wrap the prayer will make it too hot for them to catch as if the Name of Jesus is not enough.Hahahahahahaha...I'm laughing so mch again.
@T-Ralph, till today some xtians even youths o still say "we are all sinners jare, nobody holy pass", me I tell them I AM NOT A SINNER, THE BLOOD OF JESUS DID A COMPLETE WORK IN ME, I'm redeemed, I'm righteous &I make bold to say I'm a saint. I'LL NEVER UNDERMINE THE REDEMPTIVE WORK OF THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. ...
